Italian prosecutor in Salvini investigation receives death threat
The prosecutor who placed the Italian interior minister, Matteo Salvini, under investigation over the illegal detention of migrants has received a death threat, sources have told the Guardian.
Believed to be the work of far-right extremists, an envelope containing a bullet was sent to the office of the chief prosecutor of the Sicilian city of Agrigento, Luigi Patronaggio, on Wednesday alongside the note: “You are under fire.”
The envelope was stamped with the symbol of a Gladius sword, a mark often used often by military groups close to far-right Movements Source
It took Michael Moore to correct anti-gun protester David Hogg’s proposal for Canadians to meddle in American elections. After screening Moore’s anti-Trump “Fahrenheit 11/9” at the Toronto Film Festival, Hogg and other Parkland, Florida high school students joined the millionaire filmmaker on stage during a Q&A.
“I have a question for you guys,” Hogg said after grabbing the mic from Moore.
“Who’s ready to save America?”
The Canadian audience cheered.
“Who’s ready to make America the country we say it is on paper, and make it the actual country that it wants to be?” he asked.
Hogg was the critical of the idea of not allowing convicts to vote in elections.
As Hogg ranted about what he saw as an injustice, someone yelled, “Shame!”
“Turn that shame into your vote,” he responded, adding, “if you’re not Canadian.”
“Um,” he continued, turning to Moore, “I think Canadians can donate to political campaigns in the United States.”
Moore shook his head in disagreement.
“They can’t?” Hogg asked.
“Well, uh, vote here,” he said, causing the audience to laugh at his best attempt at covering his ignorance.
“Learn from us,” he lectured the audience. “Don’t let this happen here because we need to come to you guys if we stay on this track.”
Moore then took the mic away from him.
“So uh, no, they can’t give us money,” Moore told Hogg.

Italy's Matteo Salvini joins Bannon's European populist group
Matteo Salvini, Italy’s interior minister and populist leader, has met Steve Bannon and joined the anti-European establishment group, the Movement, founded by Donald Trump’s former chief strategist.
“He is in!” tweeted Mischaël Modrikamen, the Belgian politician and co-founder of the People’s party, who is also a member of Bannon’s group which unites Euroscepticand populist forces. According to Italian media, Bannon has suggested the upcoming European elections in 2019 could open the way for new populist movements to fight the influence of the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and the French president, Emmanuel Macron. After their meeting, on 28 August, Salvini and Orbán claimed they were “walking down the same path” after discussing the formation of a common anti-migration front to oppose the policies of Macron. Bannon is not new to European politics, being close to Nigel Farage, the former Ukip leader, who has credited him with boosting the successful British campaign to leave the EU. The former White House strategist, who is a Catholic with ties to conservatives in the Vatican, had travelled to Rome in March to support Salvini before the Italian elections. Salvini, the leader of the rightwing party the League, governs in coalition with the anti-establishment Five Star Movement. It was encouraging to see Tony Blair smiling with the far-right Matteo Salvini, Italian Interior Minister and Federal Secretary of the Northern League in Italy, after a meeting he said was “friendly and positive”.
Blair has always been a fan of the centre ground, which is why he befriends and advises such famous centrists as Colonel Gadaffi, President Assad, the government in Azerbaijan and now Salvini. He has no time for the extreme ones, as they could never win seats in areas like Nuneaton.
Salvini ordered a census of the country’s Roma population, using the same laws established by Mussolini in the 1930s, and said anyone who isn't Italian will be deported, adding that he “unfortunately” won’t be able to deport the Italian Roma. These are the sort of people a Labour leader should be mates with, not those awful characters Jeremy Corbyn hangs about with, who say rude things about ethnic groups.
This is why some people demand a new party of "the centre", that follows the values of Blair and can win support in areas Corbyn never could. ITALIAN interior minister Matteo Salvini could be forced to change the name of his right-wing League party to avoid an eye-watering £44million (€49million) fraud bill. A judge in Genoa has ordered the seizure of the colossal sum from Mr Salvini’s League party following a conspiracy relating to electoral reimbursements between 2008 and 2010.
The scandal is the biggest in the history of the party, which along with Luigi di Maio’s populist Five Star Movement governs Italy under a coalition.

5 Georgians stole from Salvini parents
(ANSA) - Milan, August 30 - Five Georgians have been arrested for burglarising several Milan flats including that of the parents of Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.
